Just like the crisis follows a script that the player may decide to know or not beforehand, endgame follows a similar path.
The endgame script could be triggered by social cohesion falling under a certain level, or other triggers specific to the crisis.
The script is made of indexes, events, and tasks :
- Indexes allow to track various endgame related values
- Events depends on various triggers (mostly index-related)
- Completing tasks allows to progress towards this endgame's goal
Progressing towards endgame is not mandatory, and the player can decide to keep on playing once the goal is met. Both the crisis and endgame could even contain events marked as " epilogue " that occur once end conditions have been met.
Examples
- A new technology (fusion, replicator, advanced 3D printing) will allow to rebuild the world devastated by the crisis. The player can participate in the discovery and roll out of that technology. He could have a prototype to test, then a final version.
- An international organisation provides help, resources, and supplies. The ending is to re-establish a local government, the player could be the local candidate and win by enlisting the support of his neighbours.
- Aliens intervene to save humanity. The player can be one of those who meets and communicates with them. End game occurs when relations are established officially.
